MARKETING GREECE uncovers the Greece the French have yet to discover

More than 40 French journalists and bloggers briefed on the authentic yet contemporary face of Greece

Marketing Greece presented a different side to Greece to selected French media in a two-day event held on December 3 and 4.

As part of efforts to approach new market segments, Marketing Greece presented the Greece that is familiar to and much loved by the French, but also an alluring new view of the country, highlighting its diversity and authenticity as a travel destination.

“Greece has a great many new destinations which can meet the needs of those seeking fresh, authentic experiences, and those searching for or quieter destinations. There’s no need to look for emerging hotspots elsewhere. You can find them in the Greece you have known and loved for decades,” Marketing Greece managing director Iossif Parsalis told the journalists, while he also underlined the opportunities for city break travel to Athens and Thessaloniki.

The French media were briefed on new trends in Greece’s tourism sector, including developments in gastronomy and the unlimited number of activities available to travellers year-round, such as hiking, sailing and agrotourism. Following the meetings, a series of experiential press visits involving key media and focusing on new elements of Greece is being planned, while specific campaigns will be designed for the French market.

Parsalis noted: “The love that the French have for Greece dates back many years and serves as an excellent opportunity for Greece and its tourism sector. The picture of Greece that the French have in their minds has remained unchanged for decades now. Our goal here at Marketing Greece is to reveal to our friends in France the Greece that they don’t know. As a country whose destinations offer a wealth of experiences, Greece is the perfect fit for French travellers in search of an authentic vacation. Our goal is to see Greece back in vogue in France.”

Strategic partners Aegean Airlines, Grecotel Hotels & Resorts, Sani Resort and Celestyal Cruises participated in the two days of meetings.
