Blogtrotters clocks up 100m social media impressions

A new and innovative way to describe the extraordinary effect that travelling in Greece has on our senses is spread across the world through blogs, vlogs and social media posts

Modern, inspiring and spreading the story of Greece as a holiday destination in a way never heard before, Marketing Greece’s Blogtrotters platform for digital influencers has broken new ground during 2016 by passing 100 million impressions for social media posts alone.

A community of dozens of travel bloggers, Instagrammers and vloggers has visited all parts of Greece during 2016, with each journey tailored to their individual voice and blogging style and all brought together by the #BlogtrottersGR hashtag and Greece Beyond the Senses concept.

In doing so, this year’s Blogtrotters – in partnership with Aegean Airlines since its inception in 2014 – has celebrated the extraordinary effect that travelling to Greece has on our senses of smell, sight, taste, touch and sound.

Every social media post produced was captured on the “Sensometer” of page impressions, which passed 100 million before the end of October.

Almost 70 blog posts have been produced in 2016 alone, along with 16 vlogs from which we have produced a celebratory video, made from a compilation of Blogtrotters vlog footage that captures the sense of wonder and delight of the Blogtrotters as they discovered Greece.

Anyone who has ever visited or dreamed of visiting Greece, should turn up the volume and sit back and enjoy the below video story of Greece Beyond the Senses 2016, as told by the bloggers themselves.

For the mainland: Fashionista Athens, foodie Thessaloniki, dreamy Halkidiki and carnival Galaxidi.

And for the islands: Rhodes, Kos and Naxos as a fun-and-culture family mix islands; Patmos both spiritual and stylish, exploring Andros; running on Tinos; the ever-shifting colours of Milos and sense of discovery on Folegandros. A symphony of experiences on Lesvos and the travel seduction of Syros, Sifnos and Serifos. Not just Paros, but Antiparos too. Hydra and Spetses as city-break extenders. And for Chania, a “Five Senses, One Soul” group visit of British, French, German and Austrian digital influencers.

The list goes on to more than 30 destinations across the country.

Beyond the constant flow of posts on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Snapchat, the dozens of multi-language blog posts and vlogs speak for themselves.

In the Frow’s 720k+ Instagram followers and 514k YouTube subscribers fell head over heals in love with Santorini and Mykonos (her vlog says it all), while the posts of French lifestyle blogger Chloe Gatisson (117k Instagram) continued weeks after she competed the Syros Run.

From Germany, Miss Everywhere (120k Instagram) blogged her way around (amongst other islands) Naxos, Milos, Folegandros, capturing incredible drone footage as she went. And Greek-German lifestyle blogger and model Matiamu (232k Instagram) gave here audience a taste of the soothing side of Santorini and Ios.

As for The Balloon Diary’s atmospheric rendition of Sifnos a Serifos in her “Lost in Greece” video, no words are necessary.

And sometimes, it wasn’t about blogs and vlogs, but the impact of a single post, such as that of travel blogger Lina Mallon after witnessing a Greek island wedding.
